No Honour Among Thieves is a queer, crime-thriller that’ll keep you on your toes

We’ve all heard ‘there’s honour among thieves,’ but what about there’s No Honour Among Thieves? Sounds more exciting right?

A crime-thriller visual novel that combines strategy with queer romance, No Honour Among Thieves invites you to step into the shadows and con your way into the heart of a Mafia boss. The only problem is, what do you do if you decide that your feelings for the boss is no longer just a con, but something very real instead?

Developed by Tris Ravens, a queer, BIPOC, indie developer working to make games inclusive to everyone, No Honour Among Thieves isn’t just a visual novel game where your choices don’t matter. There are five different routes for you to choose from, and a strategy is needed for your real identity and who you work for to remain in the shadows… Everything you do has a consequence, after all.

The story starts where you’re picked up by Navin Devraj, a contractor who’s main goal seems to be taking down his ex-partner – the mafia boss called Xanthe Wilde. You’re also approached by an informant known only as The Siren, who just as you might suspect, only works for herself and her secrets never come for free.

If those two wildcards aren’t enough to make your job difficult, then you’re going to love Mercury Jackson, a genderfluid thrill-seeker who seems to have a thing for Xanthe Wilde herself. But don’t worry, he’ll be okay with smooching both you and Xanthe equally and separately, depending on the route you choose.

And of course, the heartthrob who we’ll need to pretend – or not? – to love throughout this con: Xanthe Wilde. Described as a “themme-fatale extroadinaire” on the game’s Kickstarter, Xanthe is one of the two love options – unless Kickstarter goals are met – and sits on the very top of the underground food-chain. If it wasn’t clear, don’t mess with them!

Here are just a few of the features to expect, via the game’s Kickstarter:

  •  Suspicion and Affection Levels: Your mission is clear, but that means there’s always a chance someone will discover your true mission. Of course, the game will also track just how much each character likes you (which doesn’t necessarily have to be reciprocated!) too.
  •  Intricate Choices System: Nearly all of your choices will have meaning and be remembered by the game – which may greatly benefit you later or bite you in the ass, adding a whole new element of strategy to your playthrough!
  •  LGBT+ Options: The whole cast is unabashedly queer, so your MC can be too! Pick your pronouns (even if you use multiple!), your honourific, nicknames, what you wear – the only part of the MC shown visually is their gloved arms and hands.
  • Dynamic Endings: There are no “set” endings based on one singular choice you make or a stat you have to max out – endings will vary drastically depending on the many choices you make throughout the game!

Interested, then go check out the demo. When you’re done, you can then go support Tris Ravens and No Honour Among Thieves over on Kickstarter, right now! If you want to support other queer, indie game devs and their games too, check out Spirit Swap and Invisible Wings, as well!
