Lake gets Christmas DLC with Season’s Greetings

Christmas is always a cosy time, but thanks to Season’s Greetings, a new DLC for Gamious’ Lake, it’s about to get even cosier!

Previously we explored Providence Oaks as Meredith Weiss, a city-slicker who moved back to her hometown for a few days while her parents went on vacation. Players will remember that her main goal is to deliver mail in her father’s mail truck, all while choosing how she interacts with the people of her hometown. Along the way, Meredith meets new and familiar faces and, depending on her choices, can even fall in love.

This time around, players take on the role of Thomas Weiss – Meredith’s father. Set in the year before the original game, during the holiday season of 1985, players will set out to do the exact same thing as before: deliver mail and talk to people. If that was your bread and butter before, then it looks like you’ll be pleased with what the DLC has to offer.

“We can’t wait for players to jump back into Lake‘s world, which might look even prettier covered in a layer of snow, and cheered up with lots of Christmas lighting,” said Gamious’ Creative Director Jos Bouman. “As far as we know, Season’s Greetings might be the first game that doesn’t just add a visual layer to make it a ‘Christmas game’, but is built from the ground up to let players experience a game in the true spirit of Christmas. With the annual bombardment of Christmas-themed music and movies, we think it’s about time to add a holiday game to that tradition!”

“Players also don’t have to worry that the Lake ending they chose won’t be compatible with Season’s Greetings, as the prequel takes place nine months before the events of Lake,” Bouman added.

Alongside familiar faces, the DLC is said to introduce 5 new characters to the small, cosy world of Providence Oaks, as well as new songs to listen to on the mail truck radio.

A release date for the Lake DLC has not yet been confirmed, but players should expect it this holiday season. We won’t say no to more Christmas-y games!

Lake is available to play on PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
