Dead Dating: Your Summer Horror Romance is a gay murder mystery
Ever head to a sweet party with a ton of cool, hot people – and an even more attractive partner – only to realize that you might have just stepped into the world of a gay murder mystery game? No, that must just be the concept of Dead Dating: Your Summer Horror Romance, then.
Developed by FYMM GAMING, Dead Dating describes itself as a “romantic summer gay date party gone wild” after a body is discovered on the island you’re partying at. Players will not only need to find a way to survive with their chosen love interest, but must discover who the murderer is and escape before it’s too late.
In this game you have 10 love interests, each having their own unique personality and charm and a willingness to get to know more about you, the player character who you’ll also be able to customize (beard, hair, eyes, skin colour, and name) before you get into the nitty and gritty of Dead Dating’s storyline.
If you’re thinking this is a visual novel game though, you’re wrong. Dead Dating combines investigative puzzles with a murder mystery adventure, as well as RPG elements thanks to an approval/favour system that’ll measure your relationship with the 10 love interests you get to know throughout the game. Only be careful, once your favour goes too low then you can say goodbye to getting to know that boy any better. Outside of the whole trying to escape from a murderer, anyway.
It isn’t all sex and blood though, you’ll be asked to use your wits in order to navigate the dangers that the murderer puts before you – all while making sure they don’t kill you, your friends, and your all-important love interest in the process.
Currently, the game has an age rating of 12, and will be available for players to purchase sometime in December this year. However, a DLC simply titled THE FULL will include “an upgrade patch for those who wish to play the R18 content.” This patch will include more overt sexual content, more blood and guts, as well as allow players to see graphics relating to alcohol and tobacco.
