Looking for an LGBTQIA+ geek store? Check out Proud Geek!

It’s become more and more obvious how incredible and valued LGBTQIA+ media is – from movies to TV to comics to games, our community has come a long way since giggling gay jokes and blatant homophobia. It is diverse and wide and people are desperate to support and consume queer media. So, what better way to do that than by checking out the Proud Geek store!

Proud Geek is a gay, independent retailer that’s based in the West Midlands, UK. They specialize in LGBT+ media, including games, graphic novels, film, and TV. It doesn’t matter what shape your geekery takes the form of, this store will most likely have exactly what you’re looking for.

As said on their official website, Proud Geek’s aim is “be your one stop shop for everything geeky that’s LGBT+ centric: from sapphic fiction, to trans superheroes, to gay teen coming of age classics.” No matter what, they’ve got you covered. And if they haven’t, they’ve also included a way you can contact them to suggest titles.

This independent store isn’t just here to make a quick buck either, but has genuine care for the people it sells to. It makes sure to have a tag system that’s inclusive of trans folks, and have already put a detailed explanation on why they don’t have an ace tag, but will soon.

The owner of the store has stated that the reason Proud Geek was set up was “to help promote great titles, well-produced films, unknown gems and obscure queer media that you’re going to fall in love with. To showcase films where queer-coded characters don’t suffer, but thrive. Where people can find content created specifically for them. Where parents can find literature to help them understand gender dysphoria. Where everyone can find a superhero that they can identify with.” We can safely say that the store is doing a great job so far.

If you’re interested in helping out a queer business and getting your media from Proud Geek, head on over to their official website. You can also find out more on Twitter.
