Baldur’s Gate 3 has romance and sex – and it’s going to be very risqué!
Baldur’s Gate 3 may have been delayed (again) to October 6th, but to make up for it, Larian Studios announced something that we were all waiting for: a video about companions, romance, and sex in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Like most Dungeons and Dragons games, the party in this game are brought together by a goal that they all have an interest in. For Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s the whole ‘having a tadpole stuck in your head’ that will eventually lead you to turn into a mindflayer – the game’s big bad. Because of this, you’re going to come across companions who may not agree with one another, or hell, not agree with you, either. To put it bluntly: your choices matter.
Trying to navigate companionship and friendship sounds difficult enough, but in the latest update from Larian Studios, we know that romance isn’t going to be a picnic either. Larian have mentioned before that it isn’t going to be ‘do x and y’ aka the BioWare model in order to make companions love you. Some won’t get along with others, and some can end up killing each other if you’re not careful – so you need to pay attention.
But, if you do things right and truly connect with one of your companions, romance will bloom. And sex. Lots of it apparently, and some of it is more than a little risqué if all those positions in the community update video are to be believed. For one, we’ve got what looks to be sex on an altar – how Baldur’s Gate 3!
Intimacy will be different depending on the companions you choose to romance. Lead writer Sarah Baylus explains that “t really comes down to each individual character. There is no overarching design about how a character should react. It’s really organic and about what makes sense for them.”
