Green Man Gaming joins United Nations in the fight against climate change
It was only yesterday that Sony, Microsoft, Google Stadia, and many others announced their efforts to combat climate change during the United Nations Climate Summit Conference. Now, however, Green Man Gaming have thrown their hat into the ring, pledging to work with its community to help against the climate crisis
The Alliance between Green Man Gaming and various other video game companies has been formed to not only fight against climate change, but to alert and inspire the video game community and to also take action.
For Green Man Gaming, this means planning a major reforestation initiative. A reforestation initiative is about helping the planet by replanting an area with trees, and so one of the world’s largest e-tailer will start their replanting efforts in the first quarter of 2020.
To get started with this reforestation effort, the e-commerce retailer will team up with a certified and well-known tree-planting organization. We don’t know the name of this organization as of yet, but will update this article when we do.
As for when the programme will officially launch outside of the UK, it is said that it’ll be international during 2021. Funds for the programme will be raised through sales of selected games through Green Man Gaming’s e-commerce platform. Afterward, the funding will be invested in a planting programme that is said to produce an estimated additional 200 acres of new trees.
