Girlfriends who fight together stick together in Samurai/Gunslinger

Have you ever wanted to play a game where two, larger-than-life, diverse protagonists get to kick butt and kiss? Then you’re in luck, because Samurai/Gunslinger may just be the game for you.

Based on the Samurai/Gunslinger comics by Brian Garriques, this indie puts players in the shoes of Angar, an emotionally repressed Samurai with the ability to summon a mystical suit of armor, and Shawna: a world-weary African American outlaw with supernatural revolvers.

Oh, and did we mention that they’re girlfriends and are very much in love? We didn’t? Well, now you know.

A samurai and gunslinger walk into the bar…

As for the setting of the game, players will explore the Edo Period of Japan and the American Old West, with the twist of using anachronistic characters and weapons in each environment. So, no matter if you’re in Japan or the Old West, you’ll still be able to use any and all weapons available to you.

There will be two campaigns depending on who you choose to control, but this isn’t a simple beat-em-up. Your choices matter, and will determine what sort of ending you get at the end of the game.

Other features include:

  • Emotional Response Dialogue: choose what emotion to assign to every dialogue choice.
  • Strategic combat: identify enemy patterns to attack and defend vulnerable body parts. The player and enemies can strategically target each other’s head, torso, arms, and legs.
  • Limit on resources: players must tactically use weapons, melee combos, grapple moves, and super moves to conserve ammo, stamina, and health.
  • Retro 16-bit graphics and beat-em-up gameplay reminiscent of Streets of Rage and Final Fight.

The Kickstarter for this game has just opened up, so if you want to support this studio and these two gals in love, make sure you go back it before it ends.
