Gayming Magazine’s Game of the Year 2019 Poll
Gayming Magazine has had one hectic year, but we couldn’t be where we are today without you – our readers. You’ve laughed, cried and sometimes yelled with us, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. So, to celebrate, we decided to ask you one last favour: can you vote in our Game of the Year 2019 poll?
For our Game of the Year, we’ve asked a number of contributors to Gayming Magazine to tell us just what their game of the year really is. While we couldn’t fit in every game, we chose eight nominations which we feel are varied enough that our readers will at least have one option they really like. After that, you’ll be able to vote by choosing your favourite game in the poll at the end of the article.
As Geoff Keighley would say, let’s roll onto the nominees.
Luigi’s Mansion 3
Luigi’s Mansion 3 was an excellent addition to the Nintendo Switch this year, and our resident Nintendo fan Ed Nightingale even called it his game of EGX 2019! If you’ve yet to play the game for yourself, don’t hesitate and get it this Christmas!
Sayonara Wild Hearts
Sayonara Wild Hearts has often been described as a video game pop album, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s got style, has an obviously amazing soundtrack and there are a ton of motorcycles with hot people riding them. Honestly? Game of the Year may not be so hard after all…
Pokemon Sword and Shield
Pokemon Sword and Shield went through quite a lot of controversy since it was announced that there would be no National Dex. But despite all that, it’s become one of the most popular Pokemon games around and we’re very happy to have it as one of our nominees.
Outer Worlds
If there’s one game that deserves to be nominated for its characters alone, it has to be Outer Worlds. It’s practically Fallout New Vegas in space, and if that isn’t enough to pique your interest then we aren’t sure what will.
Seriously, do it for Pavarti.
Plague Tale
A game that mostly went under the radar, Plague Tale was not only one of our favourites games, but a game that led us to cry at least several times in the space of an hour. It’s got an incredible narrative, and if you haven’t played it just yet, then now’s the time to do so as it’s now on sale on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
Untitled Goose Game
HONK! Let’s be honest, Untitled Goose Game is one of the best indie games around thanks to it allowing you to play the asshole you always wanted to be, but couldn’t.
Now it’s a meme sensation. All the more reason for you to vote and see this game come out top. HONK!
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Our preview of Fire Emblem’s newest game led to a little controversy for us when the game officially released, and you won’t find us nominating this game for our upcoming Queer Games of the Decades award.
That said, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is an incredibly popular game and both editor Aimee Hart and our contributors really enjoyed it, despite its queer-baiting problems.
Life is Strange 2
Life is Strange 2 is a heartbreaking, but hopeful sequel to the previous games in a series that puts human stories first. It is also criminally underrated, and so, it would be a crime not to include it.
