Pokémon Day 2026 plans revealed celebrating 30 years of Pokémon
Since 1996, Pokémon has been more than just a game – for many in the LGBTQ+ community, it’s been a sanctuary. Whether you found yourself in the misunderstood nature of Mewtwo or the fabulous evolution of Milotic, the franchise has a way of growing up alongside us.
As we approach Pokémon Day (February 27, 2026), the world is preparing to celebrate 30 years of Pokémon. To mark the occasion, The Pokémon Company has officially pulled back the curtain on a massive Pokémon Presents, a nostalgic return to Kanto, and a long-awaited brick-based collaboration.
Pokémon Presents
The crown jewel of the anniversary is the Pokémon Presents broadcast. Set to air on the morning of Pokémon Day, this presentation is where we expect the “Big Future” of the franchise to be revealed.
Featuring exciting updates and announcements from across the Pokémon franchise, the presentation will be streamed at 6:00 a.m. PST / 2:00 p.m. GMT / 3:00 p.m. CET on Feb. 27, 2026, on the official Pokémon YouTube and Twitch channels.
Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version
In a move that will have the “Gen 1” crowd screaming, it was announced today that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the iconic 2004 Game Boy Advance remakes, are finally coming to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Launching as download-exclusive titles on Pokémon Day (February 27), these games represent the perfect bridge between the series’ origins and its future.
Whether you’re revisiting your first journey or experiencing the Kanto region for the first time, these classics remain the gold standard for how to remake a masterpiece.
“What’s Your Favourite?” Campaign
The “What’s Your Favourite?” campaign is currently sweeping through the community. Over in Pokémon GO, which is remarkably turning 10 this year, Trainers can use a new snapshot feature to celebrate the Pokémon that have stuck by them through the years.

Bricks, Blocks, and Badges
For years, fans have been building MOCs (My Own Creations) of their favorite pocket monsters, but, as we’d previously reported, the official crossover is finally here. Starting Pokémon Day, the first-ever LEGO Pokémon sets will hit shelves.
The initial wave focuses on the legends of Kanto, featuring:
- The Icons: Pikachu and Eevee.
- The Final Forms: Fully articulated versions of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.
It’s a collaboration that feels long overdue, bringing two of the world’s biggest nostalgia powerhouses together in one box.
From the pixelated sprites of the 90s to the high-fidelity open worlds of today, Pokémon has remained a constant. As we look toward the Presents broadcast on February 27th, one thing is certain: the world of Pokémon is just as vibrant, inclusive, and exciting as it was 30 years ago.
