Confetti’s Cozy Corner: A Glimpse into Dosa Divas

Food is a central pillar to culture, and in Outerloop’s Dosa Divas that shines through. I had the pleasure of playing a thirty minute demo for Dosa Divas during Summer Game Fest Play Days 2025, and the current demo during Steam Next Fest extends about 20 to 30 minutes past what I originally played.

Dosa Divas is a spicy and vibrant narrative turn-based RPG that is about love, family, boundaries and mending bonds over a good meal.

You play as sisters Samara and Amani as you go with them on a journey with their sentient ancient mech on a mission to defeat a rotten fast food empire run by their other sister Lina. Throughout the demo you get more of a sense of how detrimental Lina’s fast food empire has had on their community and how quickly, in Samara and Amani’s absence, folks became dependent on fast food.

The gameplay consists of platforming, forging for ingredients, fishing, completing requests, gaining favor with the community, and cooking. The characters have unique personalities that shine and compliment each other well. Samara and Amani have spent years apart but have reunited to not only mend broken bonds but to confront the issues of their home-town that has sunken into a shadow of its former self under the capitalist grip of Lina’s fast-food empire.

The turn-based fight mechanics are smooth and easy to pick up on with repetition. Additionally, the fishing mechanics are straightforward, with just a press of a button to reel in the catch.

The cooking minigames at first can be a bit challenging, as some do not feel as responsive as they could be. For example, one minigame that requires you to flip what you are cooking in a frying pan doesn’t have the responsiveness that feels satisfying in my opinion.

I appreciate the balance Dosa Divas has between simple game mechanics and challenges in mini games. Since there is still time before the 1.0 release, there is still time to iron out small kinks. As presented now, Dosa Divas looks like it will be a fulfilling heart warming experience we are accustomed to from Outerloop.

What brings people together in my family is music, laughter and food. I enjoy partaking in dishes that have much meaning in my family. When I was a child, sharing meals together was a central point in our day, but as society changed, technology advanced, and cost of living increased, my mom had to get 2 more jobs on top of her main career. Shared meals began to dwindle more and more and it really broke my heart.

At the core of Dosa Divas is the constant need for shared meals and how food brings people together. While fast food is convenient and cheap, it is hardly nutritious nor made with love. Capitalism penetrates every part of society, down to the food we eat. More often than not capitalism acts as an invasive entity that leeches off culture, robbing it of its substance, just to turn a profit.

From what I saw of the demo, Dosa Divas‘ story seems to lean in the direction of warning players of the dangers greed can play when it comes to profiting off of culture especially when those outside one’s culture gets involved. I cannot wait to experience the full story and know more of the why’s that led to the current predicament in the story.

Dosa Divas will release Apr 14, 2026 on Steam [PC], Switch, Switch2, and PlayStation 5.

This game remains high on my wishlist for 2026. I encourage fans of RPGs, JRPGS, and great stories to play the demo and wishlist on Steam
