The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story releases April 18
On Tuesday, Riot Games’ publishing wing, Riot Forge, announced that its next spin-off, narrative game, The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story, will release on April 18, 2023 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders are now open for those looking to snag the game as soon as possible. The base game will retail for $29.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition will be $39.99. Die-hard fans will be able to grab the physical collector’s edition — which includes a Sylas statue, an art book, a deluxe art print, a Lux comic special edition hardcover, Home Sweet Cave decorations, exclusive spells, and Unchained skins — for a whopping $169.99.
The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is a “gritty, 2-D, hi-bit pixel action-RPG” where players build up a rogue mage army and lead a revolution. It was developed by Digital Sun, the team behind action roguelike Moonlighter. The game is set in the world of Runeterra (where League of Legends takes place), in the kingdom of Demacia. Players control Sylas, an escaped mage who joins up with a group of rebels in the forest. Together, they decide to shatter the peace Demacia has built on the blood and sweat of mages.
“The Mageseeker provides an action-packed fantasy gameplay experience for those looking to experience a story of power, identity, and justice,” Riot Forge said in a press release.
In the latest trailer for The Mageseeker, we see Sylas locked in chains within a cell. He laments his loss of hope, but realizes that hope alone will not change things or make the mages’ oppressors pay for what they took. Instead, he vows to be the force to make that change happen himself.
