Dead by Daylight is getting a movie adaptation
On Thursday, Behaviour Interactive, Atomic Monster, and Blumhouse announced that they are coming together to put a Dead by Daylight movie adaptation on the big screen.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Jason Blum and James Wan, two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the Dead by Daylight universe,” said Behaviour Interactive executive vice president Stephen Mulrooney. “Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft Dead by Daylight’s killer entrance onto the big screen.”
Blum and Wan have both made names for themselves in the modern horror film industry with their contributions to the genre. Blum’s Blumhouse production company has put out several beloved scary movies, including Jordan Peele’s Get Out, and also has its eye on getting into video game development. Wan has had a prolific career as a writer, director and producer on films like the Saw franchise, The Conjuring series, Annabelle, Malignant, Aquaman, and M3GAN.
“In Dead by Daylight the Behaviour team has created a love letter to the world of horror, building an incredible environment teeming with atmosphere and terrifying villains — perfect for a scary cinematic adaptation,” said Wan, who is also the founder and CEO of Atomic Monster. “We’re big fans of the game at Atomic Monster, and are thrilled to be teaming up with Blumhouse to bring this frighteningly visceral world to the big screen.”
The team are currently searching for a director and screenwriter for the Dead by Daylight movie. Blum has stated that he is set on finding the perfect fit for both roles.
“There are so many fans of Dead by Daylight out there and think it’s imperative we find someone who appreciates and loves the world as much as we do, to help us bring the game to the big screen,” Blum said. “We know our partners at Behaviour and Atomic Monster will help us bring the best version of this game to life.”
