Season of Pride 2022 Celebration kicks off July 1
The fourth annual Season of Pride celebration for 2022, presented by Midboss, starts on July 1 with charity streams for LGBTQ+ organizations, a special Steam event starting July 9 that will run through July 23, and a sale on the Nintendo eShop during the last week of the month. This event celebrates “LGBTQIA+ diversity in gaming,” and “raises money for worthy charities through streaming events and game sales on Nintendo Switch and Steam all month long.”
Season of Pride 2022 is hosted by Midboss, San Francisco-based developers of LGBTQ+ titles like 2064: Read Only Memories and Kitsune Tales. The festivities will kick off on Steam with a sale and event focused on highlighting LGBTQ+ themed games that are already out and upcoming releases. Nintendo’s eShop will also be hosting a sale on LGBTQ+ themed games, including Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers, Steven Universe: Unleash the Light, Sword of the Necromancer, and more. Companies like Annapurna Interactive, Devolver Digital, and Green Man Gaming are also helping out with these sales and events.
Additionally, LGBTQ+ streamers like JeffBrutlag, DEERE, and UrbanBohemian will be hosting charity streams on the Midboss Twitch channel, where they’ll be playing games with LGBTQ+ themes and/or characters in support of various organizations, including The Trevor Project, Mermaids UK, Trans Lifeline, Minus 18, Black Girls Code, Gaymer X, Women in Games International, and Girls Who Code.
