LGBTQ+ inclusive game Sword of the Necromancer Extra Modes DLC is now available

Sword of the Necromancer, a roguelike that focuses on Tama trying to revive her lost love Koko with an ancient, legendary sword, is a game that quite easily won our hearts when we had the chance to review it. It’s got everything we love: lesbians, dungeons, swords, and rabbits! And now Sword of the Necromancer is getting some free DLC.

Extra Modes was announced back in April, and now it’s finally here. Not only does it bring a wealth of new content for players to get stuck into, but as seen via developer’s Grimorio of Games’ Twitter account, brand new animations depicted in the DLC trailer. Be careful if you watch though, as there will be some spoilers to the game’s ending!

Extra Modes in Sword of the Necromancer is a DLC that adds various challenges and levels to the game, as well as a new epilogue chapter that’ll complete the story of Tama and Koko.

These new challenges and modes are:

  • Challenge Mode: Exactly what it says on the tin. In Challenge Mode, you’ll basically be playing the base game, but things will be even more randomized than usual. There will be 10 new monsters, as well as new bosses that won’t be in a fixed order. No matter where you go, you’ll encounter something new in this mode.
  • Colosseum Mode: You think you can take on waves after waves of enemies? Then you’ll love the Colosseum Mode. Here players must defeat enemy after enemy until they get to the end, where a random boss awaits to destroy them.
  • Boss Rush: Players will have to fight against 5 bosses without rest! You’ll encounter both old and new enemies and can only bring your level and gear to face them. So, we suggest grinding first! If you manage to defeat this mode, you’ll even get your own mini-boss to summon in the base game!
  • Dungeon Builder: What’s better than exploring a dungeon? Making your own! You can create the layout of your dungeon, decide what you want to appear in chests, enemies, and even boss battles. You can then share these dungeons with a simple text code. Sounds neat!
  • Item Shop: After completing one of the other modes, you’ll be given a symbol that you can exchange for items. The item offered will be the same for everyone, but will change each day so that players have the chance to get all weapons and relics.

What’s exciting about this Sword of the Necromancer DLC is that it’s completely free, and is available for all players of the game right now! So don’t hesitate, jump right back into the action and grab Extra Modes!
