Arthurian game Pendragon, releases later this month
If you’ve ever wanted to play an Arthurian game, granted one that isn’t quite as gay as Guenevere, then you may be glad to hear that Pendragon will be releasing later this month, September 22nd.
Described as a narrative strategy game, Pendragon follows the story of a King Arthur that has been betrayed by Sir Mordred, who wishes to kill Arthur and his allies, as well as destroy Camelot.
Drawn in a beautiful, glass-window style, players have the option to play as Guinevere, Merlyn, Lancelot, Sir Kay, Sir Gawaine and four others, to fight their way across Britain in Arthur’s name. With so many characters to choose from, each playthrough will be wildly different, adding to the replayability value of Pendragon.
Here are just a few features that you can expect from Pendragon:
- Experience story and gameplay as one – Pendragon’s story plays out on the field of battle itself, driven by your decisions — and those of your enemies. A randomized game board ensures every playthrough is new.
- Face your foes – Encounter wild creatures, brutal rogues, and Sir Mordred’s dark knights on your perilous journey to Camlann. Successful runs will unlock harder difficulty levels with additional enemies, strategies, and secrets.
- Draw your sword -Fight turn-based battles with simple yet deeply strategic combat where position is everything, losses are inevitable, and every step permanently shapes the narrative.
- Live the legend – There will be love, suspicion, revenge, sacrifice, and murder — and no one is safe, not even your leader.
- Decide Camelot’s fate – Your actions determine whether Arthur faces Mordred alone or with his friends by his side.
