Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy will seemingly take ‘Harry Potter’ into darker territory
Harry Potter may not be at the front of her minds right now, especially with the controversy surrounding the author of the well-loved book series, but that hasn’t stopped leaks about the supposed Harry Potter RPG — seemingly titled Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy — from appearing on the internet.
As mentioned by DualShockers, the Harry Potter RPG was leaked before with a gameplay video that has since been deleted. Since then, we’ve all waited impatiently for other reveals, but haven’t been rewarded with a single crumb.
Until now. According to a leaker on this Reddit post, Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy is a game that’s set after Harry, Ron and Hermione have defeated Lord Voldemort and have gone on to have families. Of course, there’s no real proof that what the leaker is saying is true, despite them claiming that they work in Warner Brother’s Marketing department, so take everything here with a huge pinch of salt.
One of the first things mentioned is that players will get to customize their character and apparently even decide if they are muggle-born, half-blood or pure-blood, which we assume will have an affect on how people will treat you depending on what house you’re in. You’ll also be able to romance characters, who you’ll get married to at the end of the game. Whether there is a ‘relationship system’ similar to BioWare’s practices has not been mentioned.
Players will be a 5th year student who has just moved to Hogwarts, and will get the option to be sorted into one of the four houses. These houses will apparently have their own unique storylines.
More importantly, the leaker states that this game “is not made for children,” and that the game is “more for the fans who read the books and are now older. Expect an T or possibly M rating for the violence and dark themes.”
Again, this should all be taken with some skepticism, as there isn’t any real proof on how the leaker got this information. But even so, we can’t help but think that this definitely sounds exciting for the Potterheads out there.
It will be interesting to see if fans of the series continue to support it in light of Harry Potter creator JK Rowling’s recent transphobic statements.
