Sticky Business: Book of Shadows DLC
The sticker store simulator Sticky Business just released a new DLC called Book of Shadows that is bound to make the little gay witch in all of us rejoice!
If you ever dreamed of running your own Etsy store where you can sell handmade goodies, or if you enjoy designing clothes in Animal Crossing New Horizons, Sticky Business is for you! You get to create your own stickers by combining, modifying and adding some flair to images, wrap them up, add some goodies, and send them to your customers – minus all the stresses and hassle that come with managing a store. This game is perfectly cozy and engaging, and will scratch the creative itch in your brain just right!
The creative freedom you get is surprisingly vast, as there are countless combos of images and words you can put together, and the Book of Shadows DLC adds a bunch of options you can mix together – over 100 new images or variations around the theme of witchcraft and magic. A magical cat peering into a crystal bar? Done. A non-binary goblin looking into the stars with a deck of tarot cards? On it. A shelf full of potions with inspiring (or threatening) messages for equality? Absolutely.
The sky is the limit with your sticker creativity! Make your fantasies come to life, put them up on your online store, print them out, and ship them to your customers!
My personal favorite part of the game is designing stickers – letting my brain go wild and making my ideas come to life.
The Book of Shadows DLC does not disappoint with the amount of options it adds. You know what’s also super cool? The game gives you the option to save your creations to your desktop and do whatever you want with them, like turn them into Discord emotes or print them out and use them as actual stickers. How unique is that? It’s definitely more than just a simulator and a game, it’s a creativity tool!
What’s more, if you stream the game on Twitch, you can let your viewers become in-game customers and order their favorite stickers through a very easy-to-use Twitch integration. On this screenshot below, my viewer named caligator_luv ordered one of my cats, my naughty goose with a slice of pizza, and my flower with butterflies, simply by typing a command in chat with the numbers of the stickers she wanted.
Other than your own friends, you’ll find that some of your customers will become regulars, and in the letters they write to you, multiple small stories seem to unfold before your very eyes. Between two layers of stickers, you’ll find yourself oddly immersed and curious about your clients’ relationships and feelings. The DLC adds 10 new such stories that are magically wholesome, and who knows, maybe you will learn the enchanting words of some love spells or the mysterious friendships of a coven… The things you learn from tending a little sticker store!
In order to unlock more images to use in your stickers, and to keep your store fresh and shiny, you need to please your clients. Simply getting their orders right and on time will do the trick, but if you want to go the extra mile, you can use different glitter paper for your stickers, fancy packaging, and insert a bonus goodie or two. Give them a fruity lollipop, a they/them button, a turtle notebook, or a trans butterfly keychain, and see how they react. After all, word of mouth is powerful, and those little extras go a long way in keeping your store running! The DLC adds a few of those extra goodies and glitter paper as well. I heard magic crystals are all the fashion these days…
Beyond the joy of making your clients happy, “hearts” is one of your two main currencies you acquire in the game, the other one being money. You use hearts to unlock more images and designs for your stickers, whereas money is used for everything else: the packaging, the extra goodies, the paper. There is thankfully no stress associated with the currencies, they are merely used to unlock more things to create stickers with and to make your clients happy with.
Sticky Business is incredibly queer: not only does it feature all the pride flags you can think of, but also a bunch of queer-themed items like a trans planet and an asexual symbol. And let’s be real, us queers have all one day or another dreamed of being a magical girl like Sailor Moon or a powerful witch like Piper Halliwell or Sabrina, so the Book of Shadows DLC is right up our alley and just in time for Pride month! We could all use a bit more gay magic in our lives!
With over 20 hours of playtime into it already, plus some of it being interactive stream content and giving images I can re-use, I can say that you will have more than your money’s worth! This game is perfect if you like cozy games and have a creative streak. And on top of that, it offers incredible LGBTQ+ representation! It made me feel valid, seen, and celebrated.
Sticky Business was released on July 17, 2023, and the Book of Shadows DLC came out May 26, 2025. You can purchase the game on Steam for $9.99 (currently on sale for $4.99 until June 9) and the DLC for $3.99 (on sale for $3.59).
