Confetti’s Cozy Corner: Date Everything! A dating sim that will have your heart fluttering!

As an introvert homebody, my ultimate dream is that the love of my life will show up at my doorstep with a wedding ring, ready to whisk me away to our loving future. In Sassy Chap Games’ Date Everything!, you play as the ultimate introvert who gains the ability to romance, befriend, or make enemies of the inanimate objects in your home.

Work from home? More like date, find a partner, and be in love right in the comforts of your own home! Outside is scary, and the real dating pool is more of a mud puddle.

The Date Everything! demo left me with much anticipation for the full release coming soon!

With 100 datable characters and over 70,000 voice lines, Date Everything! is a wild, hilarious, and heart-warming dating simulator that has something for everyone.

The demo begins with your character on their first day working their stay-at-home customer service job, which on the same day, you are laid off due to AI making your role obsolete [ouch!]. But there was no time to be sad about losing your job on your first day because a surprising package arrives containing a magical pair of glasses called ‘Dateviators’ which make your house come to life and allow you to date everything you can interact with.

You are immediately introduced to Skylar Specs when you put on the Dateviators, as she is the object itself. She guides you on how to use the Dateviators, form bonds with the objects in your home, and introduces you to your first dateable objects: Dorian [the front door], Phoenicia [your cellphone], and Maggie [the magnifying glass].

Each item you meet has unique, interesting, and vibrant personality. Each item’s distinct and unique look is creative, fun, and incorporates their personality and function within your home well. For example, Telly [the flat screen TV] is a dark skinned masc presenting dateable whose hair is an afro in the shape of a flat screen colored in the SMPTE color bars, which is a genius presentation of what a TV may look like in a dateable form.

All of the art seen in the game is hand-drawn, and the 3D home is fully explorable… and dateable!

Date Everything is fully voice-acted by a star-studded cast of the best SAG-AFTRA voice actors in the industry, including Matthew Mercer, Dante Basco, Laura Bailey, and Steve Blum.

Hundreds of interactions and dialogue paths can be explored, and very early on, it is apparent that different types of players and the wide range of sexual identities were thought of in the creation of this game. For example, in my playthrough, I have encountered many ace/aro-friendly dateables that softly comfort and validate your needs.

It started with Betty [the bed], who, after telling them you’re not interested in sex or physical intimacy, responds by saying, “There are so many other nice things you can do in a bed with a partner,” giving great examples after. This is an excellent example of having a dating/romance simulation aspect of a game and being inclusive of everyone under the LGBTQIA+ community. So often, as an asexual, demi-romantic gurlie, I feel left out because many interactions in games you can date in are not inclusive of our experiences, and if they are, more often than not, it is in an unhealthy way.

Date Everything! feels welcoming and safe to have an ace/aro experience while playing, which makes me confident there will be more options for us on the ace/aro spectrum by the full release. Games that romance and dating elements should follow Date Everything‘s example and be more inclusive of asexual and aromantic folks, as many of us do date and should have excellent representation in video games.

Throughout getting to know and dating things in Date Everything!, you will gain skills that will give you more dialogue options when interacting with things. When speaking to objects, you can skip a conversation, which I often use when talking to certain characters, like Johnny Splash [the shower], who has a voice similar to Elvis’s [Not an Elvis fan].

With over 100 dating options, do not feel compelled to be friendly with everyone, plus it makes the experience more fun to have an enemy or two along the way. Make the experience your own, with so many options, the game’s re-playability is very high, making each replay unique in its own way.

Although the demo is limited, Date Everything! is packed with excellent representation, beautiful art, a star-studded voice-acted cast, and a fun time. Sassy Chap Games’ Date Everything! is a fun time. While the ultimate introvert’s dream of a good partner showing up at their doorstep may be that, a dream, Date Everything offers a fun twist in the dating sim genre that will have your heart fluttering, feet kicking, and face smiling.

Date Everything! will be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S for $29.99 [Standard Edition] and $34.99 [Lavish Edition] on June 17, with a demo available during Steam NextFest June 9 – June 16. Happy Dating!
