Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp comes out as gay

Noah Schnapp, best known for his contribution as the shy and reserved Will Byers in Stranger Things, has come out as gay.

Posting a video on popular social media app TikTok, Schnapp revealed that he had just come out to his friends and family at the age of 18. In the comedic fashion that fans have come to expect from the star’s TikTok and social media, Schnapp grinned into the camera and used a sound bite to summarize the whole coming out as being ‘not that serious.’

You can view the video over on TikTok, as well as below via Twitter.

Schnapp has earned praise from fans across social media, particularly for the caption used on his coming out video: “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.”

The reveal of his character, Will Byers, as being gay in Strangers Things Season 4 was a heartfelt moment for a lot of LGBTQ+ viewers. Not only was Will treated with respect, but like Robin – another queer character involved in the sci-fi series – he was given the support he needed thanks to his big brother, Johnathan Byers.

In other Noah Schnapp news, the actor has recently teased that there will be a “beautiful ending” for Will Byers in the next and final Stranger Things season; strictly speaking, we hope it’s a little bit of a gay ending too. Just saying.
