Noah Schnapp has teased a ‘beautiful ending’ for Will Byers in Stranger Things

Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp recently teased the ending for his character in the show Will Byers in an interview with Forbes. The show will return to Netflix for its fifth and final season presumably sometime next year, though the streaming platform hasn’t announced a set release date yet.

In Stranger Things Schnapp’s Will Byers is one of the kids involved in the scary, supernatural happenings taking place in the small town of Hawkins. Will is behind the iconic Christmas lights hung over letters that the show has become synonymous with, as his mother put that set-up together to try to communicate with him after he was taken to the Upside-down by the demi-gorgon.

Will continued to feature in conversations around the show, as more and more fans started getting the inkling that the character might be gay and in love with his best friend Mike. Granted, this inkling was pretty well supported by the show, as Will’s parents both talk about his sexuality on-screen, and Mike even has a scene where he yells at Will that it’s not his fault he doesn’t like girls. Schnapp went on to confirm Will’s sexuality in an exclusive interview with Variety.

“I mean, it’s pretty clear this season that Will has feelings for Mike,” Schnapp said in the interview. “They’ve been intentionally pulling that out over the past few seasons. Even in Season 1, they hinted at that and slowly, slowly grew that storyline. I think for Season 4, it was just me playing this character who loves his best friend but struggles with knowing if he’ll be accepted or not, and feeling like a mistake and like he doesn’t belong.”

In this latest interview with Forbes, which primarily focused on the launch of his new vegan Nutella alternative, Schnapp went on to discuss the upcoming final season of Stranger Things and how Will’s character arc will play out.

“I can just tell you that I’m very very excited for what’s to come,” Schnapp said. “I think they did a great job with Will’s character this season, and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the show is just perfect — the story started with Will, and it’ll end with Will.”
