Claraatwork and Complexity partner for women-led Apex Legends tournament Clara’s Legends

On Wednesday, Complexity Gaming announced Clara’s Legends, a women-led, invite-only Apex Legends tournament in partnership with Complexity streamer Clara “claraatwork” Gomez. The tournament will take place on December 3, where top female streamers in the Apex Legends scene will lead trios to compete for a portion of the $36,000 prize pool.

Clara’s Legends will be presented by JBL and Twitch, and will have 20 teams of three face off in the Apex arena. Some of the captains of the 20 teams include Laurice “GuhRL” Habibi — who made history as the first woman to compete in the Apex Legends Global Series — and Gen.G’s BlissKai. The squads will play through six games of Apex, but with the twist that only the captains of each team will be able to speak and formulate strategies. Supporting teammates will have to rely on using pings to communicate with each other and their captains. This is the next step in Complexity’s efforts to increase diversity in the esports space. The org previously worked with Denny’s to host a streaming series for women.

“Women are actively shaping the future of gaming,” claraatwork said in a press release. “Alongside my partners in Complexity Gaming and JBL, ‘Clara’s Legends’ will further female representation as unapologetic leaders and competitors. I’m proud to partner with brands that prioritize inclusivity and empowers women to shine.”

“Despite continued growth and progress over the past decade, gaming and esports remain predominantly comprised of men, so we’re co-hosting Clara’s Legends to spotlight women creators who are actively changing the game,” said Kyle Bautista, COO, Complexity Gaming. “Whether signing a diverse cast of talent or hosting events like Clara’s Legends to celebrate women, Complexity is dedicated to doing its part to make gaming a more welcome environment for the current and future generation of players and fans.”

The tournament will kick off on Saturday, December 3 at 12 p.m. PT. It will be streamed on both the official Complexity Twitch account, and on the channels of each of the creator captains.
