Life is Strange: Remastered Collection announced

Life is Strange, first released back in 2015, was met with huge fervor by queer players the moment it allowed protagonist Max kiss her best friend Chloe back in episode 2. It’s ending was controversial, but that didn’t stop players from lining up to grab the prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm. And now in 2021, Square Enix has announced the Life is Strange: Remastered Collection.

The collection was officially revealed via Square Enix’s digital showcase yesterday. It will include everything from Life is Strange, as well as Life is Strange: Before the Storm, but the two games will be updated to have improved visuals and animations. These new visuals and animations aim to breathe “new life” into a familiar cast and setting.

Unlike the recently revealed Life is Strange: True Colors, Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm are episodic – but don’t worry, that won’t stop you from enjoying the gripping stories that these games have on offer.

Life is Strange, developed by DONTNOD Entertainment, follows the story of Max Caulfield who returns to her hometown of Arcadia Bay. She gets thrown into a life of mystery and intrigue once she discovers her new powers, and her old best friend, Chloe Price, comes back into her life like a wrecking ball.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm, however, takes place before Max and has the player control Chloe. Players also meet the illusive Rachel Amber, who plays a significant part in Chloe’s development, and her relationship with everyone else in Arcadia Bay.

The Life is Strange: Remastered Collection will be included as part of the Ultimate Edition of Life is Strange: True Colors, meaning that it will be released on September 10th, 2021. However, a standalone edition of the collection will be offered later on this year. The exact release date is currently unknown.
