Not only did we get a Dark Crystal Netflix series, but now we’re getting a video game too
The Dark Crystal is a 1982 puppet-animated dark fantasy feature film that has become an alluring cult classic despite only being a minor hit at the box office. Blending horror, whimsical magic and stop motion graphics, The Dark Crystal received a series of prequel books, but failed to resurrect in multimedia until 2017 when Jim Henson announced a Netflix series. What resulted was The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. A second season is currently in talks.
If you’re old, like me, and remember watching The Dark Crystal on VHS or on television, then you were pretty psyched to binge-watch the new Netflix series. But what’s even better than that? Oh, yes, I’m talking about a video game! Today it was announced that The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is receiving its own video game story on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, Microsoft Windows, and macOS.
Developed by BonusXP and published by En Masse Entertainment, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics will allow you to play as three new characters from the Netflix series. The tactical strategy game is described on Steam as:
Lead a fledgling resistance of Gelfling against their oppressive overlords, the Skeksis, across more than 50 unique turn-based tactics RPG battles. Along the way, you will recruit and customize new allies by assigning them jobs, modifying their abilities, and outfitting them with equipment to ensure victory. With 15 playable characters, including familiar faces from the classic film and the new Netflix original series, build your own teams and devise winning strategies to overthrow the rule of the Skeksis and restore light to the Gelfling homeworld of Thra!
