A Rat’s Quest Announced for 2021

I’m a sucker for any video game featuring a cute animal, and Mexican studio The Dreamerians has somehow managed to turn rats into adorable little heroes.

A love story for the ages, A Rat’s Quest – The Way Back Home was officially announced this morning in a joint statement from The Dreamerians and publisher HandyGames. It’s currently aiming at a 2021 release on Steam, Play Station 4, XBox One and Nintendo Switch.

A three-act, Romeo and Juliet story, A Rat’s Quest – The Way Back Home finds Mat (a rat) and Nat (a mouse) as they are taken home as pets and pine for each other from separate cages, and yearn for the freedom of the outside world. Little hero Mat sets out on a journey to free his beloved and live a life as nature intended while always on the run from The Claw. What is the Claw? We’ll have to wait until 2021 to find out!

Experience a big adventure in an even bigger world!

Gameplay features will include a rat mode where you can climb, jump, crawl and sneak like a rodent; a hybrid mode where you can adjust the perspective of your avatar to experience narrowness in real time; a full immersion game with no maps or waypoints; obstacles at every corner with no armour or ordinance drops; and the ability to gather gadgets and other add-ons to survive.
