Gayming Award 2025: Best LGBTQ+ Indie Game Nominees
The 2025 Gayming Awards are on the horizon and that means the celebration of gaming and LGBTQ+ excellence! Indie games are trailblazers in the industry for queer representation so let’s highlight this year’s nominees in the Best LGBTQ+ Indie Game category.
Beloved Rapture – Steam
Beloved Rapture centers on Johan an introverted young man from the countryside, Aiden an exiled warrior and Crysta a runaway noblewoman. Journey with our heroes as they face challenges to their friendship and face the trauma of their past as they work together to stop the escalating conflict before it reaches the people they love.
Caravan SandWitch – Nintendo Switch | PlayStation 5 | Steam
In this narrative driven sim you take off on a journey across beautiful landscapes in search of your missing sister. There are many locations to explore, people to chat with and quests to complete. The further you get into the journey the more you uncover the reasons for your sister’s disappearance. There’s no death or timer, you can truly just vibe and ride around the world of Cigalo in the van; while you meet new people and see what harm humans exploitation of the environment around can do.
Sorry We’re Closed – Steam
In this whimsical, neon, unapologetically gay survival horror game, you play as Michelle who must use her third eye to see between the world of demons and angels. Everyone is going through their internal battle, and it is up to Michelle to not only break her own curse but help guide others dealing with their own inner battles. This game has a mix of classic fixed-camera exploration and arcade-style shooting with many accessible options for gameplay.
Kitsune Tails – Nintendo Switch | PlayStation 5 | Steam | Xbox
In Kitsune Tails you play as a young female kitsune on a hero’s journey of self discovery while seeking to uncover the reason why your childhood best friend betrayed you and is now your enemy. While on this journey you will explore the land, unravel the complicated relationships between kitsune and humans, untangle love triangles, and go on cute dates. The powers you unlock on your journey manifest the cutest outfits that help you run, jump, and dash! Kitsune Tails is very inspired by Japanese mythology.
Fear the Spotlight – Steam
After sneaking into school after dark and doing a séance, all hell breaks loose in this 3 person adventure horror game. Vivian and Amy must solve puzzles and navigate the dark history of Sunnyside High. Fear the spotlight has that 90s atmospheric horror environment that centers on great storytelling that keeps players on the edge of their seats. Always keep in mind the goal is to survive and stay out of the spotlight.
Tavern Talk – Mac | Nintendo Switch | Steam [PC]
Tavern Talk is a cozy D & D inspired visual novel that centers on positive LGBTQ+ representation with multiple endings. Serve magical drinks to patrons of the Wayfarer Inn while you gather rumors and meet many adventurers. The magical drinks you serve have the ability to change adventurers’ destiny forever, while also turning rumors into quests. While danger lurks outside of the tavern, you will connect with patrons and find your chosen family. When adventurers return from various jobs, you can use items they return with to adorn your tavern and make the space cozy, welcoming and nostalgic for patrons. There are tough topics that are breached during the stories, so proceed with caution and self-care when necessary.
