Life By You delayed to June 2024

Paradox Tectonic’s Life By You – a life simulator and direct competitor to The Sims – has had its early access release delayed to June 4, 2024.

The game was first announced back in March 2023, and even back then, the team working on the game was open about how ambitious they were when it came to the life sim. Not only would you be able to pick who you wanted to be, but you’d be able to swap between whole households at the click of a button and really make your world thrive. The possibilities seemed endless.

Since the announcement, Paradox Tectonic has been at work, with an original release date for Early Access being September 12, 2023. That date was then moved to March 5, 2024. Now it has been moved to June of this year.

The reason for this delay, as explained in a blog post from Paradox Tectonic, is that the extra months will allow the team to ensure a fun game and an overall enjoyable player experience at release. Specific topics that the blog post touched upon were:

  • Bugs
  • Performance & Stability
  • Character Art, with particular points being a change to proportions, character idles and facial animations, a reduction of clothing clipping, and overall smoother animation transitions.
  • Building Assets
  • Gameplay Refinements based on feedback
  • Mod Tool Usability

“As always, it is your feedback and guidance that shape Life by You.” The blog post reads. “With these next three months, we will make sure that the game is in a great spot for you all to guide us more effectively with your requests, with fewer distracting bugs or issues. Early Access remains a period for us to enact on your feedback– this will not impact Paradox Tectonic’s commitment to making the best life sim possible with you at the helm.”

All in all, the team takes the quality of Life By You very seriously and is working to make the improvements necessary to make the game shine when it releases for Early Access in 2024.

During the game’s first delay, Tectonic issued refunds to players through the Epic Games store. Tectonic has now gone on to make it so pre-ordering Life by You is impossible and that extra bonuses and items, such as The Nightclub Vibe pack, are now going to be available to everyone at launch.

Players who want to show their support in other ways, however, are able to whitelist Life by You instead of pre-ordering.

Studio general manager Rod Humble also shared how grateful he and the team were for all of the feedback received by fans via a video update. “On behalf of the team here at Paradox Tectonic, I want to express our gratitude for all of your comments and feedback over the past few months. It’s really meant the world for us,” he said. “We love making this game. We love this community, and we’re very, very grateful that we are in the position to take extra time to polish and provide a smoother experience for you.”
