Romancelvania, The Deep End Games newest game, featuring a forlorn Count Dracula looking for love, brings hijinks and reality TV goodness into the fold. But, and this is very important, does Romancelvania bring the gay romance?
First, let’s get to know a bit more about this RPG. In Romancelvania, players will take on the role of Count Dracula. You may know them as one of the most feral, antagonistic vampires in the entirety of English literature, but in this game you’ll be playing Dracula centuries after being dumped by their one true love. To say they aren’t in a good place is probably an understatement.
Fortunately, your best friend The Grim Reaper is here to help. After tricking you into meeting up, you discover Grim has forced your very own dating show upon you: Love at First Bite. On this dating show you’ll meet 12 contestants who serve as your romance options, and guess what? All of them are vying for your affections. You have fancy werewolves, Cthulu if they were a domestic housewife, a brooding vampire that doesn’t twinkle, and so much more.
While that’s all well and good, you may be wondering that very important question: are you able to be gay in Romancelvania?

It is possible to play Romancelvania as a gay Count Dracula. Here’s why:
At the very start of the game you start off as a masculine-presenting Dracula. However, as you play further on, you are given the option to change your form to a Dracula that is more feminine-presenting. Once you’ve selected your form, you are also able to choose your voice. This is a little similar to Cyberpunk 2077’s character customization, where you’re able to use whichever knvoice you like with whatever body type you pick. However, unlike Cyberpunk 2077, your choice of voice does not lead to you being misgendered. So, score one to Romancelvania.
Then there’s your romance options. There’s a fairly even split of male vs female love interests, and your body and voice options do not hinder which contestant you can get close to. No matter who you’re interested in, all romance options are pretty much interested in Dracula. It’d be a pretty crap reality dating show if they weren’t, eh?
That said, topics of polyamory, queerness, and kink are also discussed by characters within the game. Some characters also imply attraction to other contestants, regardless of their gender, so while each character does express interest in the player character, queer attraction is also mentioned a numerous amount of times through dialogue.
