Lil Nas X is the new League of Legends president, will perform at Worlds
On Thursday, Riot Games announced that starting with the League of Legends World Championship (Worlds), Lil Nas X will be taking the role of LoL President. In this role, the music sensation will be responsible for “creating explosive musical moments, an ingenious League champion skin, and a spectacular live Worlds performance for the 180+ million monthly players and fans in the League universe.”
Lil Nas X’s first order of business as the new president of League of Legends will be to unveil the new musical anthem for Worlds, which he himself will be performing. The song is called “STAR WALKIN'” and will debut on September 23, just before Worlds kicks off in Mexico City, Mexico on September 23. Lil Nas X will also be working cooperatively to design a custom prestige skin for the new League of Legends champion, K’Sante the Pride of Nazumah. The presidential duties of Lil Nas X will conclude with him performing live at the opening ceremony for Worlds, which will lead into the final on Saturday, November 5.
“I felt like it was time for me to try something new. I’ve left my mark on pop culture in so many ways, and now it’s time to take on the world of gaming. I will be the greatest President of League of Legends, of all time. Also I’m going to make the best Worlds anthem of all time and put on the biggest, coolest, sexiest Worlds in the history of all Worlds!” said Lil Nas X. “STAR WALKIN’ is the only song anyone is allowed to listen to from now on. Swag fr!”
Becoming the president of League of Legends isn’t Lil Nas X’s first step into the world of video games. He and furry fighting game legend Sonic Fox are mutual fans of each other, often exchanging tweets and buying each others’ merchandise.
