Fright Fatales is a spooky speedrunning event coming in October
On Monday, Frame Fatales – the all-women Games Done Quick speedrunning community – announced that they will be hosting a one-day event on GDQ Hotfix for speedruns of horror games called Fright Fatales on October 23 from 1-9 p.m. ET.
Every year, Frame Fatales hosts at least two marathons a year, one in the summer called Flame Fatales, and another in the winter called Frost Fatales. These events are specifically for women-identified speedrunners to get the chance to show off what they can do. The most recent Flame Fatales event raised $137,174.82 Games Done Quick Hotfix is a series on Twitch that serves to highlight speedrunning races, tournaments, and more.
“Let’s have a eerie adventure where we get to play games that are scary but we do it all under the campfire and tell each other all the ghost stories. That is going to be our Fright Fatales GDQ Hotfix showcase! It is all about video games in a speedrunning fashion that are on the realm of cute, scary or where PUMPKABOOs are shown.”
Any women horror speedrunners interested in joining in the fun of Fright Fatales can check out the registration form for more information. Registration is open until Friday, September 23. To register, participants must be 18 years or older, be available during the time slot they’re registering for during the show, and must give GDQ permission to access participants public social media platforms to complete the vetting process.
