The best selling games of August 2019 are…

Sales numbers for August 2019 are in, and it looks like it was a bad month for gaymers. According to VentureBeat, video game sales for the month of August were the worst cumulative total in twenty years. Not only that, but the low tally lowered the percentage for the year by 6%. Ouch! Were people enjoying the summer weather instead of sitting in front of the television? That remains to be seen.

Madden NFL 20 remains the best selling game for two months now, with Fire Emblem: Three Houses remaining in the top four. Classic mainstays make up the rest of the top ten, with Astral Chain debuting at #10. According to IGN, these are the best selling games for the month of August:

1. Madden NFL 20
2. Minecraft
3. Grand Theft Auto V
4. Fire Emblem: Three Houses
5. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
6. Super Mario Maker 2
7. Mario Kart 8
8. Mortal Kombat 11
9. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege
10. Astral Chain
