We hope someone mods the Resident Evil 8 Puppet Show into the game

When Resident Evil 8 came out last week, I had no real idea how much I – someone who has never wanted to play a Resident Evil game ever – would ever feel any sort of interest in it. But then the Resident Evil 8 puppet show videos popped up on my YouTube timeline and I’ve decided now that I want nothing else but to play the latest game. But… only if people mod the puppet show characters into the actual game.

It’s the way that the puppets are handled that just does it for me. I know deep inside they are indeed just a marketing tactic to get me to buy the game and that me finding them cute is just the claws of capitalism digging deep, but by god, these little puppets are so darn endearing that I hate to say that it’s working! It’s hard to say no to Mr Heisen after he tells me that if I play the game, “Big Sister Dimi will drink your blood.”

There’s a lot I like about the Resident Evil 8 puppet show. It’s something that actually screams ‘campy queer’ horror that the base game does just fine on its own, but the puppet show turns up by 100. The casual use of ‘Big Sister Dimi’ and ‘Moreau-kun’, and even ‘Mr Heisen’ and ‘Angie’ is just so appealing in its caricature of a happy, monster family that, much like these cute puppets tell me, doesn’t feel scary at all. It’s almost like…it’s convincing me to play.

One brain-cell thinking aside, a Resident Evil puppet show mod would most likely terrify me when modded into the game once I came face to face with it but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want it anyway. The exaggeration, the catchy tune of ‘Let’s go to Resident Evil village’ and the sway of the puppets… I’ll take all four of those mods with a smile, thanks very much. They can rest aside my Lady Dimitrescu casual mod.

And if for some reason Capcom ever stumbles their way onto this article, if a mod isn’t enough for you all, I will most gladly accept more Resident Evil puppet shows. It doesn’t matter if they’re only 5 minutes, I’ll watch them with glee if I get to spend more time with this ridiculous, monster family.
