Goodbye Volcano High looks to be the queer, angsty teen drama I need in my life

Goodbye Volcano High was a reveal that immediately grabbed my attention. With a luscious-looking art style that shows off the unique design of our anthropomorphic protagonists, the only thing that got me more excited to see more about Goodbye Volcano High was its setting: high school. Who doesn’t love some teen angst?

So what’s it about? Our main protagonist is 18-year old Fang, a dinosaur who likes to strut their stuff and show everyone that they’re an edgelord like no other. There is one thing more important to them than being edgy though: making sure their band goes viral before the year is over.

However, when have things ever been simple? When graduation is upstaged by terrible news, everything changes for Fang and their friends. Will they find time to figure themselves out, and how can they balance a budding romance with all of these life-changing shenanigans going on?

According to KO_OP, the studio behind games like Lara Croft: GO and Winding Worlds, the game will deliver a “queer narrative created by a diverse team with multiple storylines and unique endings.” Considering that this game was revealed in a big show for the PS5, I’m personally very stoked to see what this queer narrative is and how it’ll be implemented into gameplay too.

Goodbye Volcano High will be released on the PS4, PS5 and PC next year. Check out the official website to find out more.
