Games for gaymers to get in the Holiday spirit!
The Holidays are almost here! If you’re not in the spirit just yet that’s understandable as 2025 has been a challenging year for many. But I’m here to lift your spirits and provide some video game recs to get you in the Holiday spirit!

Lake / Lake Seasons Greetings
Lake is a mail delivery job sim with a rich story and relaxing vibe. Meredith Weiss takes a leave of absence from her job in the big city due to some burn out and her father after many years finally taking a much needed break himself. Meredith’s hometown, Providence Oaks, is beautiful, slow paced and has a tight community. It’s here that Meredith’s father is the town’s post man and with him going on vacation, Meredith will be taking over his postman duties for 2 weeks as a change of pace. Lake has an endearing story, where not only will you be delivering mail but can find love and maybe discover something about yourself. In my opinion Meredith is very gay, but there are two love interests you can choose from and the game has multiple endings!

The DLC, Lake: Seasons Greetings we return to Providence Oaks but as Meredith’s father, Thomas! This DLC will get you in the Christmas spirit as it takes what you experience in Lake [main game] and adds a beautiful winter environment, the opportunity to get to know the characters you meet in the main story on a deeper level, and ultimately leaves players with a hopeful feeling. The DLC chronologically happens before the events in Lake; but I still recommend playing the DLC Second to the main story. Lake: Seasons Greetings is about 4 to 5 hours of playtime.

Spirit City – Lofi Sessions
It’s the time of year where many folks lock in to their goal setting, vision boards and manifesting for the next year. I recommend for those who love gamefied co-working tools, to plan out and track their goals in Spirit City – Lofi Sessions. Not only is it a game/co-working tool, you can customize your in-game work space, home, kitchen and even a train to be very cute and queer. The winter update has cute winter theme themed items you can earn in game through co-working, items that are available immediately such as cosmetics and a cozy fireplace setting, while also having winter themed spirits that will work beside your character in game. In addition to all that, there is winter/holiday themed music with many titles to choose from created by real artists!
There is a paid Winter Spirits cosmetic pack that adds cute cosmetics for your Spirit pets that I believe is totally worth the $4.99 USD. Set your goals or if you work from home use it as a gamefied co-working tool to get you in the holiday mood!

Log Away
Build a cozy cabin that feels like home in Log Away. This is a relaxing wholesome building sim where you can build the coziest cabin of your dreams amongst beautiful nature. There are no time limits, grind or goals to meet. Just relax, enjoy the cute woodland creatures, nature and, I suggest, with a warm hot chocolate by your side. There is a small story in Log Away but the main focus is the building. There is weather and changing of seasons, and to get you super into the holiday spirit, I recommend the Log Away- Christmas DLC! It brings all the warm feelings decorating your home for the holidays can bring with lights, presents, nut crackers, Christmas trees and so much more! The best part, the DLC is only $1.99 USD!

Animal Crossing New Horizons
Animal Crossing New Horizons can provide much comfort for those who are perhaps alone during the holidays or whose communities of chosen folks are not physically close to them. The winter vibes in Animal Crossing New Horizons I have always found comforting, and this is also a great time to check-in on your islanders, redecorate, start over and especially prepare for the free update arriving January 15th!

I’m going to hold your hand when I say this: CLEAR OUT YOUR BACK LOG BESTIES!
While the game deals on PC and Console are definitely enticing… with the games industry typically slow this time of year with new releases, I believe it is the perfect time to clear out the backlog.
Yes besties, I am calling you [and myself] out! Do you really need 15 more games from the Steam Winter Sale, or should you start that game you bought during the Summer and Autumn Steam Sale that you swore you were gonna get started weeks ago? Yeah let’s get on that now besties! Clear out as much of your backlog as you can!
This time of year can be fun for many but very isolating also. Not everyone has a family to go home to, and many of folks’ chosen family are not proximal to them. Trust me when I say I know the feeling. I struggle this time of year with my mental health and loneliness, but the one thing that gets me through is my chosen community and hobbies. I hope this list can provide you comfort during this holiday season.
