Gotham Gaming Launches in Chicago to Build Inclusive Communities Through Gaming and Technology
Gotham Gaming, Inc., a new nonprofit organization based in Chicago, has officially launched with a mission to use gaming and technology to create safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for marginalized communities. Founded by Jonny Saldana and Clementina Salucci, Gotham Gaming is currently in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) status and is preparing to roll out a series of innovative programs that merge play, education, and mutual aid.
Drawing on Saldana’s success building the Charlotte Gaymers Network, the largest LGBTQ+ gaming nonprofit in the United States, and Salucci’s background in community organizing and inclusive programming, Gotham Gaming aims to bridge digital divides, foster belonging, and unlock pathways to careers in technology for Chicago’s diverse communities.
“At its heart, Gotham Gaming is about creating spaces where people can find belonging, joy, and opportunity,” said Jonny Saldana, Co-Founder and Founding Executive Director. “In Charlotte, I saw how powerful gaming could be when used as a tool for connection and empowerment. Now, I’m thrilled to bring that vision to Chicago and build something bold and transformative alongside Clementina and our community.”
“Our goal is to break down barriers and ensure that gaming isn’t just entertainment, it’s a catalyst for equity, learning, and leadership,” added Clementina Salucci, Co-Founder. “We want Gotham Gaming to be a place where every player, regardless of background, can thrive and see themselves reflected in the community.”

Gotham Gaming is preparing to launch a suite of signature initiatives, including:
- Project Blue Shell – Recognizing young scholars facing adversity with custom gift boxes including a Nintendo Switch, school supplies, and family support resources.
- Project Save Point – A mutual aid fund providing direct financial support to LGBTQ+ individuals in crisis.
- Project Saturn – An eight-week STEM program teaching high school students video game design, coding, and streaming skills.
- Project Paperclip – Bridging the digital divide by providing laptops, hotspots, and ongoing tech support to LGBTQ+ individuals in need.
- Project Horizon – A partnership with Lurie Children’s Hospital to bring joy and normalcy to children during hospital stays through gaming.
The organization is actively recruiting its first class of board members, operational leads, and volunteers, and is inviting Chicago gamers and allies to join its growing Discord community.
