Games Done Quick’s Frost Fatales 2024 breaks the ice this Sunday
On Sunday, March 3, Games Done Quick’s Frost Fatales 2024 annual speedrunning event will kick off on Twitch in support of the National Women’s Law Center. The event will run from March 3-March 10.
Frost Fatales is a yearly charity event put on by Frame Fatales, which is Games Done Quick’s speedrunning community for women and femme folks, whether they’re cis, trans, nonbinary, or gender non-conforming. Frame Fatales have a server where they host a Game of the Month club, randomizer events, and speedrunning marathons. They also host two charity speedrunning events each year; one in the summer is Flame Fatales, and the winter one is, of course, Frost Fatales.
Games Done Quick has partnered with various charities to raise money since 2010. Some of these have included AbleGamers, Doctors Without Borders, Malala Fund, Organization for Autism Research, and Prevent Cancer Foundation. So far, these events have raised over $48.9 million in total for charity.
The organization Frost Fatales 2024 is supporting this year is the National Women’s Law Center. This is group that fights for gender justice and to break down barriers, particularly for marginalized folks like people of color, LGBTQ+ folks, and low income women and their families.
“The National Women’s Law Center fights for gender justice—in the courts, in public policy, and in our society—working across the issues that are central to the lives of women and girls,” its website reads. “We use the law in all its forms to change culture and drive solutions to the gender inequity that shapes our society and to break down the barriers that harm all of us—especially women of color, LGBTQ people, and low-income women and families. For more than 50 years, we have been on the leading edge of every major legal and policy victory for women.”
