Xbox partners with GLAAD, hopes to increase LGBTQ+ rep in future games
Xbox has announced a long-term partnership between Xbox Games Studios Publishing and GLAAD.
As revealed via Xbox’s blog post, Xbox Wire, Xbox Games Studios Publishing, and GLAAD will use this new partnership to bring more LGBTQIA+ stories, characters, and lived experiences to future Xbox games through workshops, consultation, and utilizing existing resources. As you may have gathered, with a name like Gayming Magazine, we’re happy to hear it.
But that isn’t all. Microsoft is making a $200,000 total donation to LGBTQIA+ nonprofits across the globe. This is in addition to the $1.4 million donation Microsoft employees have donated to charities since last year.
The game publisher will also have multiple LGBTQIA+ streamer takeovers on Xbox’s Twitch channel, playing games with inclusive lead characters, as well as gender and relationship options. For example, Disney Dreamlight Valley with its brand new update of Pride-inclusive gear, or Tell Me Why with triple-A gaming’s very first trans protagonist.
And last but certainly not least, Xbox UK also announced more details about their partnership with, well, us for DIGIPRIDE 2023!
