Cozy MMO Palia is coming to Switch this holiday season

During Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct, Singularity 6 announced that its cozy MMO Palia will launch for free on the Nintendo Switch during the 2023 holiday season. The game is scheduled to come to PC soon, and the team also announced that there will be a PC stress test on July 6.

Palia is a cozy MMO where players enter a fantasy world to participate in a community sim. In this world, humans are a mystical species, and your character has just woken up in this land. It’s up to you to help guide them to find a place in this world.

Players will start the game out on a plot of land of their own with just a tent to live in. From there, it’s up to you to decide how you’ll make your living off the land, be it fishing, foraging, cooking, hunting, gardening, or catching bugs. As you play mini-games to perform these activities, you will level up your skills in them. Using the materials you gather, you will eventually be able to build the home of your dreams and create giftable items for local villagers.

Some of these villagers are romanceable, and there are confirmed LGBTQ+ options. According to the developers, you will also be able to customize your player character extensively with different clothing options, some of which will be free and others which will be premium items that cost real-world currency.

For those eager to check out Palia as soon as possible, you can sign up to participate in the PC stress test on July 6 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. PT. Handheld fans will have to wait until this year’s holiday season to check out Palia on the Nintendo Switch. The actual release date for this platform hasn’t been announced yet, so fans will have to keep up with Singularity 6 for updates, though you can wishlist it on the eShop now.
