Overwatch 2 dating sim ‘Loverwatch’ to release on Valentine’s Day

We’ll be honest, we’re surprised that it took this long for the team over at Overwatch to think that the game might need a dating sim but hey, better late than never.

That’s right everyone, the Overwatch fandom can finally sit back and rejoice – there is finally a game where you can smooch characters in Activision Blizzard’s hero shooter! The bad news is that you only get the option of two: Angela Ziegler aka Mercy, and Genji Shimada.

In this very non-canonical game (sorry gaymers, this game isn’t the confirmation that Mercy and Genji are bi), you’ll get the opportunity to pick between the katana-wielding cyborg or Overwatch’s prized doctor and do your utmost to successfully date them.

As players pull out the stops to seduce their Overwatch character of choice, they will be accompanied by a very smug-looking Hanzo Shimada. A bit weird if you’re going to be trying to kiss his brother Genji, but whatever. Succeed in getting the the super secret ending and you’ll be able to earn a Play of the Game highlight intro.

Loverwatch will be accessible via a web browser during February 13 to February 2, which coincides with Overwatch 2 Valentine’s Day event. That will include a variety of different modes and challenges, such as a 4v4 Hanzo mode.

Activision Blizzard isn’t the first big name to go down the dating sim route. Behaviour Interactive did the same thing last year with Dead by Daylight: Hooked on You and was well-received by the community surrounding the asymmetrical horror game. With how popular shipping and fandom is, we don’t doubt this new Overwatch dating sim will get the same treatment.
