Can you be gay in Roller Drama?
Roller Drama is the newest title from Football Drama developers Open Lab Games. In it, players take on the role of Joan, the new coach/den mother for a roller derby team in a dystopian near-future. During your stint in this position, it is up to you to help each of the five members of your team solve issues in their personal lives, learn to get along with each other, and try to climb the ranks of the roller derby championship this season. The game is pretty rough around the edges, but it has a lot of interesting ideas and striking, hand-drawn character visuals.
As roller derby is no stranger to having queer folks participate, it would not be unreasonable to wonder if you can be gay in Roller Drama. Lucky for you, we have the answer.
Can you be gay in Roller Drama?
The short answer is that, no, you as Joan cannot be gay in Roller Drama. Joan is put firmly in a matron/coach role and she does not really cross that line. That said, there are queer members of your team, and you can help them get together if you play through their quests without making any mistakes in your decision making.
Anne is your team’s superstar jammer. She’s also kind of a chaotic, unpredictable pain in the butt. Juliet, on the other hand, is a lot more quiet and reserved. But the game reveals in one of it’s middle chapters that the two have been smooching. If you play through the section without misunderstanding Anne’s wildly mixed signals and can actually break through to Juliet, you can have them get together as a couple. Be warned though, if you goof while going through this section, the two will pass each other by, and it’s pretty much all your fault.
