Fuse and Bloodhound shippers are finally getting some food in Apex Legends Season 14
Apex Legends Season 14 is live, and while many folks are excited about the new Legend, Vantage, there’s an even more thrilling prospect on the horizon of this season: flirty dialogue between Bloodhound and Fuse. The Apex Legends community loves nothing more than in-game hints at romance.
The tone for the relationship between Bloodhound and Walter “Fuse” Fitzroy was first established in the trailer for Apex Legends Season 8: Mayhem, which was also Fuse’s debut in the Apex Games. At the end of the trailer where Mad Maggie completely derails Fuse’s entrance into Kings Canyon, the “Savior of Salvo” is in a squad with Caustic and Bloodhound. Being more than a bit cheeky, Wally smacks Caustic’s butt as he finishes up his trailer narration. When he goes to do the same to the tracking Legend, they point a Wingman at him threateningly.
Bloodhound was also one of the Legends who joined Wally to take care of Mad Maggie during Mayhem’s seasonal quest, alongside Lifeline. At one point during the narrative of this quest, the tracker implied that Fuse reminded them of a former lover named Boone. But since Season 8, these two haven’t really gotten much screen time together or relationship development.
Now, six seasons later, it seems the pair’s relationship dynamic has shifted pretty drastically. In new voice lines released for the Hunted update, both Legends are engaged in some pretty obvious flirting, and both have moments of being adorably flustered while doing it.
Several of these voice lines feature Bloodhound trying to copy Fuse’s usage of the word “mate,” and failing pretty spectacularly. Others are even more direct, referencing that iconic first interaction and explicitly mentioning going out on dates.
“You ain’t dyin’ til you take me out, Houndy” Fuse says. “Hunting I mean.”
“Walter, this is not the time for jokes,” Bloodhound replies.
Season 14’s quest, “Friends Like These,” is set to have Vantage plunge into the depths of the “tensions, heartbreak and secrets,” of her fellow Legends. With the inclusion of these voice lines for Bloodhound and Fuse, it seems they might be part of what’s to come.
