Calico is coming to PlayStation and Stadia

Pastel cat café game Calico is opening its doors on PlayStation 4 and 5 and Google Stadia, in addition to PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, soon. The game’s 2.0 version, The Pawsome Edition, will also launch in the near future. It includes new cooking minigames, new animals to befriend, and more.

Calico is a “day in the life community sim” where your character is tasked with rebuilding the town’s cat café. It’s somewhat open world, allowing players to explore the town and wider community to build relationships, complete tasks, and meet new furry friends to bring to the café in a “laid back, low stress creative environment to explore and play in.”

The game is partially inspired by magical girl anime and manga aesthetics. Its character creator allows you to make your own magical person avatar that can wear and change into different clothes you collect as you play. Animals that you manage to befriend become completely interactive. Players can keep the critters in their party, where they’ll follow you around and obey your commands. You can even ride some of them around the open world. Or, you can send them to chill at the café with your customers.

Getting the café back to its former glory is your whole goal in Calico, and that involves more than just collecting critters to make the place more cozy. You can choose what kind of furniture you’d like to have to perfect the vibes of your establishment, and to make your animal pals feel at home. Beyond that, players will participate in a cooking minigame to create delicious pastries and drinks for your patrons.

There’s currently no announced release date for Calico on PlayStation and Stadia or The Pawsome Edition, but it should be sometime in 2022.
