Looking for a way to give back this Pride? Meta by Sinai Health Foundation is working with creators and their communities to help support critical causes that benefit LGBTQ2S+ communities.
Meta by Sinai Health Foundation is a dynamic and diverse online gaming community whose mission is to fundraise and support the game-changing research and services at Sinai Health, including vital programs directly serving the LGBTQ2S+ community. This Pride, Meta is gathering gamers and creators together in support of the RBC Pathway to Peers program.
Mount Sinai Hospital’s Schwartz/Reisman Emergency Centre is widely recognized within the LGBTQ2S+ community is one of Toronto’s most inclusive emergency departments. Yet LGBTQ2S+ youth, who face an increased risk for mental health issues due to systemic discrimination and social determinants of health, can be particularly vulnerable in the fast-paced and sometimes intimidating emergency department environment.
The RBC Pathway to Peers program supports young people between the ages of 16 and 29 who visit Mount Sinai Hospital’s Emergency Department in need of timely and inclusive mental health
care. RBC Pathway to Peers provides all emergency department staff and trainees with critical training in best practices when caring for LGBTQ2S+ patients. These in-department sessions address the barriers young LGBTQ2S+ patients face in their day-to-day lives, prior to an emergency department visit.
Meta empowers creators to champion these causes with an all-in-one platform that makes fundraising online seamless and intuitive. Fundraisers are given a donation platform that integrates a landing page to process all donations, a toolkit of assets for any streams or social posts, and staff support to create and push events that boost fundraising and engagement. Meta is also giving away all kinds of awesome gear and gaming equipment and entering is free.
