Ustwo games reveals latest title Desta: The Memories Between
On Thursday, ustwo games – the creators of Monument Valley and Alba: A Wildlife Adventure – announced their next game as part of Summer Game Fest. The new title is called Desta: The Memories Between and is a strategic, turn-based action game.
As the protagonist, Desta (who uses they/them pronouns), falls asleep each night, they find themselves in an infinite dream world filled with “glowing balls to throw, shattered remnants of locations past, and vague memories.” Players will use the ball game to advance through the flowstate of the dream world, along with taking on enemies and bosses.
Desta: The Memories Between is inspired by and “offers the depth of skill and mechanics that can be found in turn-based and roguelike games” like Hades, Into the Breach, and Inception. According to the developers, “Desta is the deepest, most ambitious and most replayable title from ustwo games yet, but with all the heart and approachability that the London studio is known for.”
“All the characters you meet in the game helped Desta become who they are – there’s a lot about loss and finding yourself, which are themes that I’m sure we can all relate to. We hope players enjoy exploring Desta’s dream worlds, and the reawakening that follows,” said ustwo games Chief Creative Officer, Danny Gray.
In addition to Desta: The Memories Between, ustwo games is also releasing Monument Valley: Panoramic Collection for the first and second Monument Valley games on Steam. These games were originally designed specifically with mobile in mind, so the developers had to take that into account while porting them. But now it seems ustwo games has figured out everything they need to get these classic puzzle games ported to PC successfully.
