NA VCT Game Changers series II starts tomorrow
Series II of the North American Verizon Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Game Changers league will kick off with the open qualifier event Thursday, June 30 – Saturday, July 3.
The open qualifier will consist of 48 teams vying for a spot in the VCT Game Changers series II main event. The main event will start on July 6, with only the top-eight NA teams qualifying to participate. Performing well in this tournament will be key for these teams as they seek qualification points to attend the VCT Game Changers Championships in Berlin, Germany this November.
All 48 teams participating in the open qualifiers will play in five rounds of Swiss competition, where the qualification and elimination matches will be in a best-of-three format. Only the top 24 teams will survive this stage of the event. From there, these 24 will move into a double-elimination bracket, with the top-eight teams from the Swiss stage receiving a buy to the second round of the upper bracket. All the matches in the double elimination stage will be best-of-one, excluding qualification and elimination matches. The upper bracket will conclude after three rounds, with four teams remaining. The lower bracket will determine the final four teams that will advance to the main event for playoffs.
The main event for NA VCT Game Changers series II will kick off on July 6. All matches in this tournament will be best-of-three, with the exception of the Grand Finals on July 9, which will be a best-of-five. The teams competing in the main event will have a shot at part of the $50,000 prize pool and qualification points for the Championship.
There’s a total of 410 points up for grabs during series I and II. The top-16 placed teams across these events will receive a portion of the points, based on their performance, which is as follows:
- 1st Place: 20% or 80 points
- 2nd Place: 15% or 60 points
- 3rd Place: 12% or 50 points
- 4th Place: 10% or 40 points
- 5th-6th Place: 7% or 30 points
- 7th-8th Place: 5% or 20 points
- 9th-16th Place: 2% or 10 points
