Every Final Fantasy VII 25th anniversary announcement

On Thursday, Square Enix posted a video celebrating the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII with several announcements about the game and its remake.

The first announcement was that Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade will be available on Steam on June 17. Intergrade is the interstitial episode set in the world of Final Fantasy VII Remake where you play as Yuffie. This version of the game is also compatible with the Steam Deck.

Next up was a section of merchandise and music. Fans can now pre-order a replica of Cloud’s Buster Sword as a digital clock. Additional figures from Final Fantasy VII Remake, including one of Cloud, are available for pre-order now as well. The video also announced that new accessories based on the franchise will be available soon. It showed off a ring and a bracelet.

A Final Fantasy VI compilation vinyl is planned for release on August 11, 2022. A new “arrangement CD” and “25th Anniversary Playlists” available on music streaming platforms are also planned, according to the video.

The mobile games in tis franchise also had some news for fans. Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is kicking off its third season with a new map, a new weapon, a new materia, and a new style. An announcement about a North American tournament for the game will come this summer. The video also announced a new mobile game coming to iOS and Android, Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis. The game appears to be at least in part a remake of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. It’s getting a closed beta test sometime this year.

Speaking of Crisis Core, the mobile game wasn’t the only announcement about it. We also got a trailer for Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Reunion. This game focuses on Cloud’s predecessor, Zack, and his mentor Angeal. The two of them, along with Sepiroth, are investigation the disappearance of one of their fellow S.O,L.D.I.E.R.s, Genesis. The game will be available this winter on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

The final announcement of the show was Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, which will be available exclusively on PS5 next winter. This video confirmed that this game is the next part of the series started by Final Fantasy VII: Remake, which will conclude with one more title after this one. According to a tweet from the Final Fantasy VII Twitter account, Rebirth will take Cloud and his friends on a new adventure, so players should be able to hop on board with this entry, regardless of their familiarity with previous games.
