Spirittea is a spectral Stardew-like coming in 2022

On Tuesday, publisher No More Robots (Hypnospace Outlaw) and developer Cheesemaster Games revealed Spirittea, an upcoming rural-RPG and management/life simulator inspired by Stardew Valley and manga/anime like Spirited Away. Spirittea will release sometime later this year on both PC and console.

Spirittea follows a writer who has retreated to the Japanese countryside to clear their head and find inspiration for their next novel. During this time, they drink from an ancient, mystical teapot, which allows them to see the spirit world overlapping with their own. They then meet a cat spirit named Wonyan who shows them all of the spirits in need of assistance and provides the keys to an old, rundown bathhouse.

Players will assume a Stardew Valley-like role in this rural community, working to fix up the bathhouse and helping the various spirits they encounter along the way. After spirits have gotten the help they need, they’ll stop by the bathhouse to soak and chill out. You can give them snacks, towels and salts along with their bath. Upgrading your bathhouse with better furniture, new rooms and baths will allow you to attract even cooler spirits, including Lord Spirits – certified big boys that take up an entire room of your bathhouse.

Beyond that, you’ll also be able to take part in a variety of hobbies like bug catching and karaoke in between assisting ghosts and searching for literary inspiration. There are NPCs to meet as well, allowing your writer protagonist to build their own little community of humans to go along with the spirits at the bathhouse.

A brand new reveal trailer showing off the game is live now, and players can expect Spirittea to come out on both PC and console sometime in the latter half of 2022. No official release date has been announced yet, though, and we aren’t sure which consoles Sprittea will be available for yet.
