Riot shows off new Legend Bel’Veth
On Friday, Riot Games released a cinematic trailer showing off the latest character coming to League of Legends, Bel’Veth, Empress of the Void.
“A nightmarish empress created from the raw material of an entire devoured city, Bel’Veth is the end of Runeterra itself… and the beginning of a monstrous reality of her own design,” her summary reads. “Driven by epochs of repurposed history, knowledge, and memories from the world above, she voraciously feeds an ever-expanding need for new experiences and emotions, consuming all that crosses her path. Yet her wants could never be sated by only one world as she turns her hungry eyes toward the Void’s old masters…”
Kind of like Galactus, but sexy, Bel’Veth is all about consuming worlds and remaking them as she sees fit. She’s the mistress of a strange realm called the Lavender Sea, where she repurposes all the information she has gathered through her consumption. Her biography describes Bel’Veth as “a dark cancer that has metastasized within the heart of the Void, through which all of Runeterra will be consumed and rebuilt in her own twisted image.”
Even the Void itself can’t seem to stand against Bel’Veth, as she has continued to spread her influence through it. She is the most powerful of the ancient creatures of the Void, and leads them in her quest to destroy both Runeterra and the domain of the Void’s old masters, the Watchers.
As you might imagine of a cosmic empress of the Void, Bel’Veth’s human appearance is only superficial. The end of her cinematic gives us a glimpse of what she actually looks like – spoilers, it’s a lot of glowing pink teeth, skin splitting into mouths, and big eyeballs. Kai’Sa is the first to see this, but given Bel’Veth’s desire to consume all of Runeterra, we have to imagine the other Legends will be seeing the Empress of the Void in all her terrifying glory soon.
