Super Rare Originals is a new indie-first publishing label from Super Rare Games

Super Rare Games, one of the world’s leading physical games publishers, has some pretty big news. And no, it isn’t that they’ve been acquired for billions of dollars, but it’s still pretty big. Indeed, because now the publisher has just announced its brand new – and original – publishing label: Super Rare Originals.

Super Rare Games is best known for publishing physical Nintendo Switch games, with a new game releasing – roughly – every 3 weeks through the publisher’s online store. Their mission statement has always been about supporting indies first and foremost, hence why the team has turned to Super Rare Originals.

The new original publishing label looks to focus on indie-first console and PC games, and today has announced 5 brand new indie games.

The first 5 games can be found below:

  • Grapple Dog – A 2D pixel-art platformer where players use a grappling hook to clear tricky challenges as Pablo, the Grapple Dog!
  • POST VOID – A challenging arcade style first-person shooter with one objective: be fast. It will be coming soon to consoles.
  • The Gecko Gods – Ever wanted to be a lizard? Now you can be! Explore and climb cliffs, and eat bugs as you make your way across an island civilization lost to time.
  • Lone Ruin – A spell-based roguelike twin-stick shooter where players take on the role of an explorer explorer who seeks a mysterious ancient power in an old ruin.
  • Completely Stretchy – Now for something short, sweet and stretchy. Explore the vibrant Grombi Isles using your new found floppy abilities such as your stretchy arm, sticky fingers, and more!

There are more games on the way for Super Rare Originals, but at the moment the publishing label is keeping everything else under wraps.

“We only sign games we are genuinely, personally passionate about; as with all aspects of our business, our main motivator is simply wanting to work on cool things with cool people!” Says Super Rare Games in a press release. “While we hope to change the lives of our dev friends, even if a game were to release and break even, we’d still consider it a success to have worked on something awesome and continue to support the game and its developer long-term.”
