Award-winning game 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim heads to Nintendo Switch

With a Metacritic score of 85% and the winner behind numerous awards (including a nominee in The Game Awards 2020), it was only a matter of time before 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim found its way onto the ever-popular console, the Nintendo Switch.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim originally launched back in 2020 exclusively on the PS4, but demand for it to come to the Nintendo Switch has been around since the beginning. Whether this means Xbox and PC players will get the chance to play this game sometime in the future remains to be seen.

Developed by Vanillaware, the creators behind Odin Sphere and Dragon’s Crown, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a sci-fi adventure that puts players in the shoes of 13 young pilots and their sentinels: huge and mechanical machines that fight for the future of the world against monstrous kaijus.

With 13 different perspectives, players will need to adapt and overcome everything thrown at them in order to defeat the monsters attacking their home. And if that doesn’t sound all that interesting to you, then consider that this sci-fi epic has features like time travel, beautiful backgrounds, a diverse cast, and drama – lots and lots of drama.

More than just a game about stopping an apocalyptic event, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is also thought of with mixed feelings from queer gamers. Austin Jones wrote in his feature about the game’s non-binary romance that they wished Atlus and Vanillaware had gone further to solidify the bonds between two characters, Takatoshi Hijiyama and Tsukasa Okino.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim blasts its way onto the Nintendo Switch on April 12, 2022.
