Stardew Valley has sold 15 million copies in just 5 years

Stardew Valley has always been something of a marvel. Developed by just one man, Eric Barone aka ConcernedApe, the farming simulator game has become a favourite among gamers, particularly those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. So popular in fact that it’s been confirmed that Stardew Valley has sold over 15 million copies in the space of just 5 years.

The news comes from the official Stardew Valley press page, where viewers are able to see more about the history of the game, as well as learn more about the game’s features – including the popular addition of multiplayer. It was here that the factsheet confirmed the game had sold such a huge amount.

For some, 15 million sold copies of Stardew Valley over the space of 5 years doesn’t seem all that much. However, you have to remember that Barone created the game all by himself and has been making changes to the game throughout these five years, with Chucklefish only helping with the multiplayer aspect. Indeed, it is Barone who is the sole developer of the game and for him to create such a beloved game by himself, and for it to reach international success… It’s no easy feat.

We should also remind you that it was only back in January this year that the game had sold 10 million copies. This means that in the space of less than a year, the game has earned half of its previous sales. Maybe it’s because of the incredible new updates the game keeps receiving, or the fact that we’re all looking for some rural goodness since we spent all our time stuck inside last year. Regardless of the reason Stardew Valley is doing very well, and still continues to thrive.
